About

Decision science, applied to real money.

Prefrontal Profit exists because most financial content sells conviction, and what traders and founders actually need is a way to check their own reasoning before they act on it.

What we do

We build free tools and write research-grounded content on the cognitive biases that quietly shape trading, investing, and business decisions — loss aversion, sunk cost, confirmation bias, overconfidence, and the rest of the list every trader eventually meets the hard way.

The Bias Checker is our first tool: paste the reasoning behind a decision you're about to make, and it flags the language patterns behind common biases, then hands back the questions worth sitting with before you commit. No signup, nothing saved, no account required.

The articles go deeper on each bias individually — what it is, why it happens, what it costs, and how to catch it in your own reasoning before it costs you.

Why "Prefrontal Profit"

The prefrontal cortex is the part of the brain responsible for planning, weighing consequences, and overriding impulse — exactly the machinery that gets hijacked under pressure, when a position is moving against you or an opportunity feels urgent.

Profit, in trading and in business, is rarely a pure information problem. More often it's a discipline problem wearing an information costume. The name is the whole thesis in two words.

How the Bias Checker works

The tool uses a rule-based pattern-matching engine, not a black-box AI model. Your reasoning is checked against a library of documented cognitive biases — each with known trigger language, drawn from behavioral economics and decision-science research — and matched biases come back with a plain explanation and a set of follow-up questions designed to prompt reflection, not deliver a verdict.

We built it this way deliberately. A rule-based system is transparent, predictable, and free to run at scale, and it doesn't require sending your reasoning to a third-party model or storing anything about you to work.

What we're not

We are not financial advisors, and nothing on this site is financial, investment, or trading advice. We don't tell you what to buy, sell, or hold. We build tools and write content aimed at one thing only: helping you notice when your own reasoning might be running on bias rather than analysis. What you do with that information is entirely your call.

We're also not selling a course, a signal service, or a system that promises returns. If a bias-of-the-week format and a free tool aren't useful to you, that's a completely reasonable conclusion to reach.
